Hi guys, I believe I've found a bug.

Repro steps:
  1. Add two cloud providers (in my case, two different OneDrive instances)
  2. Leave chunking disabled on one of them, set it to 100 MB on the second.
  3. Upload a large file (e.g., 700 MB) to the cloud provider with chunking enabled. It will expand to 7 files of 100 MB each, with a suffix like ".3_7".
  4. In the SME cloud File Manager, copy the entire folder containing the chunked file into the other provider.
Expected result: the copied directory contains the same 700 MB file, but no longer stored in chunks.
Actual result: the copied directory contains 7 copies of the file, each 700 MB in size, but named according to the chunk filenames (e.g., there's a 700 MB file called MyMovie.3_7.mkv, another called MyMovie.4_7.mkv, and so on).

The workaround that I found was to avoid copying entire folders, and instead "select all" within the folder and move/copy the files themselves...that avoids the duplication problem.

Also, chunking doesn't seem to work correctly when copying/moving within a single cloud provider, if I change the chunk size, or disable chunking, and copy a chunked file. I tried a similar experiment to the above, but after uploading the file (chunked), I disabled chunking and copied the file to another location within my OneDrive. In that case, I would expect the file to either (a) be de-chunked during the move/copy, or else (b) be moved in its still-chunked form. But what actually happened is that I got only one 100 MB chunk!

Also, if a file has been chunked, and then chunking is subsequently disabled on that provider, then copying of the chunked file results in only one chunk being copied, not the whole file. Thus:
  1. it is not possible to de-chunk a chunked file stored on a cloud by altering chunking settings and copying the file to a new location (I did not try moving the file, nor did I try leaving chunking enabled, but altering the chunk size, but I'm guessing that those operations might be similarly problematic), and
  2. if the user fails to notice the incomplete copy and deletes the source file, then data loss will occur.

Noted. Currently reported to SME Support and being investigated. I will post an update here when I hear more.

This issues was resolved and chunking should work as expected across all providers inclusive of copy and move.
