I am trying to sync some of my local files with my Google docs account. Most files are working fine, but a few (various sizes and types) keep reporting this message in the console:

— An error has occured: Upload was not completed. Can not get upload url from google server. Try again.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Thanks!

Hi, we've not come across this error before. Could you let us know what client you are using and some example filenames and extensions where you see this.

I'm using the latest 1.04 version. The error occurs for .xls, .ppt, .doc, .wmv, .pdf, etc...

Can you drop us an email at support AT SMEStorage DOT Com with your SMEStorage username and a screenshot and we'll check the logs to see if we can ascertain why this response is coming back.

I have the same problem with Google Docs cloud:
  • Uploading from Web fails ("Upload was not completed. Can not get upload url from google server. Try again.").
  • Uploading from Android application fails (the same error message).
  • Uploading from Windows application, Multicloud Explorer, fails ("Failed. Message: Executing...").
Some info that might be useful for you:
  • Plain "individual" Google account (no Apps for domain, no purchased storage)
  • 2-step verification enabled
  • I'm able to read all files as well as delete them. Only upload fails.
  • No problems with other cloud providers.
Could you please investigate this problem? I'm considering your Lifetime Cloud service but this issue stops me.

The issue is because you have the Google two step authentication enabled. When this is enabled we cannot upload files because of the challenge issued. This is detailed in our FAQ also. See:

http://smestorage.com/?p=static&page=faq#GoogleDocs

It is the 4th FAQ on the Google Docs Q & A

The access around different Google Account types is particularly messy especially when it comes to what you can do and what you cannot do over the API when accounts are of a certain type and certain options are turned on.

We are currently working on trying to support two factor authentication but it seems likely that we will only be able to support it for Google Apps Premier Accounts.

Thanks for response. I hope you overcome this in the free version too.
