Hi -

I have a couple questions about the sync center.

1.  When the sync center runs, it appears to randomly be unable to move some files up to the cloud.  I haven't done a whole lot of investigation on it, but is there anything in particular that I should look for that could be unique for those files it has problems with?  I have verified that the files are not currently open in any program.

2.  When the sync process does fail to sync a file up to the cloud, it appears to just stop and displays a dialog box to either retry or abort.  If I click abort it skips the file and keeps on going.  Is it possible to configure the software to just log an error and continue with the next file?  I have my sync process set to run at 1am in the morning and obviously I won't be there to click "abort".  Is this something I can configure or is this something you can add into the next release of the tools?

Thanks.

Hi.

For 1, the only reason I know for this is if the files were locked and in process. Can  you share and filenames or extensions so that we can explore this further ?

For 2, you only get the message at the end for files that could not be sync'd. it does not delay the sync of other files. You should see the list of files that failed to download/upload and the buttons to retry/abort. Each file is tried 3 times before we give up and it is put on this list.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Here are some examples of file names that fail to sync:

Visio-SecurityBPP_UserPassword_006.pdf
SecurityBPP_Termination_003.vsd

This is just a small sample - there are about 50 or so files that the sync center skips.  Some are .mht files with long names and others are .xls files.

These files are not open at the time of the sync nor have they been opened since the last time I rebooted the machine.

Also - every time I get an error on these files, the sync process halts and a dialog box diplays asking whether I want to Retry or Abort.  If I select Retry, it displays a message at the bottom saying "downloading file statistics" or something like that and then it moves on to the next file.  If I select Abort, it skips the file and moves on to the next one.

So I am definitely not seeing the expected behavior you describe below as far as the tool automatically skipping failed files and reporting them at the end.  Each time a file fails, a dialog box appears and the sync process halts until I answer that dialog box.

Thanks.

Hi
We have tested the following filenames and could sync up and down properly
Visio-SecurityBPP_UserPassword_006.pdf
SecurityBPP_Termination_003.vsd

Can you please provide the following information so that we can create your scenario
What version of Windows client tools are you using?
What cloud provider are you using?
Can you also give us the full path for the files?

I am on version 2.6.04 of the Windows tools.

I am using my own FTP server for the cloud service.

Full path for the files is:

C:\Users\Paul\Documents\Lawson Clients\Clarian\Security Project\BPP Docs\Clarian BPP As-Is\Clarian BPP As Is\

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for this. We will test this. On your side can you confirm that these files do not fall foul of the ftp sites naming restrictions.

We have made the enhancement the sync centre will not stop for each file individually on failure but will report all the files that failed sync at the end

Can you drop us an email with your username and request 2.10.5 of the windows tools software. We've put some fixes in there that should address this for the users that are having the problem.
